Major platform for interaction and window of opportunity

The second MS&D in Hamburg attracted 1,400 participants from all over the world. Germany’s largest maritime security and defence exhibition provided a first-class platform for exhibitors to demonstrate their innovations and equipment to an influential and eager audience – including 19 navy delegations from around the world. Meanwhile, at the accompanying conference, key specialists and strategists convened from the complete spectrum of industry, military and government. Here they took advantage of the occasion to share their experience and exchange views on policy and solutions to counter such threats as organised crime, piracy and terrorism.


Positive response from exhibitors

Right place, at the right time

88 % of exhibitors expressed that they had fully, or in part, succeeded in conducting business discussions and maintaining relations with existing customers. Moreover, three quarters stated they had been able to reach their most important target audiences from key industries at MS&D 2011.

Harnessing the power of peer-to-peer meetings and gathering information

71 % of exhibitors rated MS&D from informative to very informative with regards to exchanging ideas with peers and as a platform for discussion and meeting key players in the industry.

Great investment for the future

86 % of exhibitors said that the valuable exposure they had enjoyed at MS&D 2011 had enabled them to boost their company’s brand recognition, thus establishing a strong foundation for promising post-fair business.

Calibre of visitors and level of purchasing authority

85 % of all exhibitors rated the professional quality of visitors and their level of influence on buying and procurement decisions from satisfactory to very good. Furthermore, 65 % of all attendees were at senior decision making or management level.

Positive response from visitors

75 % of all visitors attending gave MS&D 2011 a good to excellent rating – confirming that the event is a valuable fixture in the maritime security calendar.

The MS&D 2011 conference programme was structured in two parallel panels – security and defence – and framed by two plenary sessions. It attracted more than 50 speakers from 15 countries – high level representatives from international navies, coast guards, police forces as well as from NATO, the EU, EDA and industry. Naval delegations from 19 countries from around the world were also in attendance, including many senior officers in addition to representatives from the security industry, governments and public authorities

The wide range of events on offer was also complemented by the extensive supporting programme over the three days. Highlights included the reception at the prestigious Hamburg City Hall and the official MS&D dinner.
